Card Details
- It is one of the few cards that offer a victory condition other than decking or reducing the opponent's health to zero.
- Though 500 may seem like a tall order, it is not that difficult to achieve with creative tactics. Casting attack boosting spells such as Katana make it much more formidable.
- Another spell for a quick victory is Final Gambit, essentially cutting the life requirement in half.
- Amorphous Fleshing's ability is the cheapest way to add to the stats of The Unspoken, gaining +20/+15 for
2 - comparable to EXP in a Can, but much cheaper and with a one turn delay. Shadow Stalker is a more potent, more expensive and less restrictive alternative.
- An example of how the ability works in a combat:
| The Unspoken attacks Melrak Scout. Since it attacks first, its damage is applied to Melrak Scout first, so Melrak Scout is destroyed. The Unspoken's ability activates for destroying Melrak Scout, adding 210 life. Then 70 life is deducted by the damage Melrak Scout dealt to The Unspoken, giving The Unspoken a net gain of 140 life. Note that even if The Unspoken begins this combat with less than 70 life, it will gain the 210 life before taking 70 damage, enabling it to survive. |
- Attaching The Shields to The Unspoken can prevent the opponent from hitting it with a saved up monster destruction spell at the last minute to prevent you from winning.
- Monsters such as Marcus and Spybot can be given to the opponent for penalities, and to give your Unspoken something to consume.
- Increasing the attack of the opponent's monsters can prove beneficial, as The Unspoken will, on defeating it, have a net gain of twice that many lifepoints.
