- Psychic Shield was originally intended to cost
1 plus a discard to counter at a faster speed, but was considered an untenable design due to the ability to discard other spells on the stack if another counterspell is cast - potentially leading to the opponent countering their own spells, paying no mana for a countered spell, etc. The original ability is due to be reinstated when planned rule changes are implemented in the future.
