Merging

From CMC Wiki

Merging is an ability that allows for two or more cards to combine to form a new card. The cards must be in play and under control of the same player.

Contents

Red and Green Sprite

Red Sprite and Green Sprite have this merging ability. Using the ability of either fairy on the other will create a White Sprite in the slot of the fairy using the ability.

The White Sprite will enter play as a dizzy token, with its attack set to double the Red Sprite's attack, and its life set to double the Green Sprite's life.

Mechazors

Mechazor One has a merging ability that requires Mechazor Two, Three, Four and Five, but does not target them.

Mechazor L will appear as a tranformation of Mechazor One, with fixed stats of 200/200.

Symbiote

Symbiote has a merging ability that allows it to merge with any monster you control. According to the target's monster type, this will result in either a Symbiotic Structure, Golem, Dragon, Automaton, Horror, Slime, Humanoid, or Creature being created.

The symbiotic monster will enter play as a dizzy monster, with its stats set to the total stats of the Symbiote and the target monster.

Elemental Aura

Elemental Aura has a merging ability that allows it to merge with any monster you control. According to the target's card ID, this will result in either a Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, or Fog Elemental being created.

The elemental will appear as a transformation of the target, with stats determined acccording to the target's cost and the type of elemental. The exception to this is when it creates a Fog Elemental, which has its stats set to the total stats of the Elemental Aura and the target monster.

Galactic Golem

Galactic Golem has a merging ability that allows it to merge with other Galactic Golems you control.

This will result in the Galactic Golem that used the ability gaining the stats of the targeted Galactic Golem, destroying the target.

Rudianos

Kaivuri, Rhyona Dawnweaver and Eleanor Elise Lucille each have a merging ability that will merge with The Silent Giant under certain conditions. This requires the Rudi Key modifier to be attached to the monster, for its ability to have been triggered by the monster's life being half or less of its default life at the beginning of a turn (this will be indicated by the art changing - the life can be raised again after this ability has triggered at least once). It also requires The Silent Giant to have at least 30 counters, which are gained each round according to the number of entities you control.

True Rudianos will appear as a tranformation of the original monster, with fixed stats of 20/180, and the Rudi Key modifier still attached.

External Modifiers

When two cards merge into one monster, and one or both are affected by continuous modifiers or temporary stats modifiers, there are several things that could happen, all depending on the specific coding done for the merging ability.

With constant attack, the modified stats will be used for the result, wherever these are used as variables in the merging process. In the White Sprite case, if there's an Iridith Village out, the White Sprite will merge into a 60/80 monster, and then still be affected by the constant -10 attack, and be a 50/80.

Until end of turn modifiers are just dealt with as if they're normal stats: if a Green Sprite has its life boosted by a card like Twelve Stars, and it uses its merging ability on a Red Sprite or the Red Sprite uses its ability on the temporarily boosted Green Sprite, the result will be an 80/140 White Sprite that keeps these stats even after that turn.
