- The Burn status effect that Magmancer inflicts is useful for preventing healing and harming monsters with Lifebar.
- Magmancer is less useful for taking down large monsters, but good at whittling down the life of many smaller monsters.

Card History
- Oct 6th, 2005: Card added to CSCs.
- Oct 19th, 2005: Expansion symbol changed to Trophy from Secret.
- Aug 18th, 2007: Card fixed to have ability not trigger when zero damage is dealt due to Protect and "takes no damage until end of turn" abilities.
- Jun 8th, 2009: Burn status effect changed in error to deal 5 damage on the turn it fades for player one only.
- Jun 9th, 2011: Burn status effect fixed to deal 5 damage on the turn it fades for both players.
- Apr 17th, 2012: Ability changed to inflict Burn+1 status effect instead of Burn:1.
