Healing is an ability that removes the most recent damage dealt to the target monster. If a monster has taken damage that can be healed, it is shown by a small red thermometer in the upper left-hand corner of the cardart. If a monster takes zero damage, it can't be healed of any previous damage, and so no icon will be shown. Lost temporary life also can't be healed. Life Sets are special in that they can change a life total, but the previous damage can still be healed, though the Life Set itself can't be healed. Healing also removes the Poison (
) and Burn (
) status effects from the target monster.
A few examples to demonstrate:
- A Winged Golem (55/55) takes 20 damage from a Jelly, and is now 55/35. It is healed of the 20 damage, and is now 55/55.
- A Stone Golem (45/45) takes 10 damage from a Fairy, and then a further 15 damage from an Ooze, and is now 45/20. It is healed of the 15 damage, and is now 45/35. The earlier 10 damage cannot be healed.
- A Spiked Golem (40/40) takes 30 damage from a Goblin, and then takes zero damage from a Brick Wall, and is now 40/10. It cannot be healed as it took zero damage, and the earlier 30 damage cannot be healed either.
- A K-Golem (50/40) gains +30/+30 until end of turn from Sudden Growth and is now 80/70. It takes 50 damage from a Winged Demon, and is now 80/20. It is healed, but only recovers 20 life, as the other 30 were only temporary, and is now 80/40. When the turn ends it will be 50/40 again.
- A Curry Golem (27/35) takes 25 damage from Rio, and is now a 27/10. Its ability activates twice, setting its life to 40, and then setting its life to 15, and is now 40/15. It is healed of the earlier 25 damage, and is now 40/40. Although the second Life Set made it lose 25 life, this cannot be healed, as it doesn't count as damage.
