Counters on a monster work the same as a status effect - they may be affected by transformations and Save Point. Each monster uses these in a different way; Sheena uses it to record her transformed form's life, Trader Ship uses it to record how many ability uses it has remaining, and Singularity Cannon uses it as an attack multiplier, as some examples.

Each counter icon represents a single counter, a counter icon with a 5, 10 or 50 superimposed on it counts as five, ten or fifty separate counters respectively.

Counters on Effects

Counters are numbers that appear on various effects where the life and attack are for monsters. They are used for storing a wide variety of information.

Some effects, like Battery of Souls or Bakuga Generator, use them as a measure of power. By increasing/decreasing the number of counters, the card's potency is increased/decreased. On other cards, like Spray Glue, counters are used to determine the number of times it can be used.
