Avatars are part of a user's Profile and appear in the matchmaker and when the mouse hovers over a player-info box during a game. They were introduced as a point sink for the older players who were accumulating so many points that it had a detrimental effect on the game's economy.

When you enter the Avatars page for the first time, you are given a male Base Set, Blue Jeans, and White T-Shirt. Other base sets of different natural skin colors for both genders can be obtained in the shop for free.

Note that there is currently no way to sell or trade avatar parts.

Obtaining New Parts

  • Buying New Parts: Avatar parts can be viewed and purhased by following any of the Store links on the Avatars page. After finding a part that you would like, click the Buy This! button to have it added and your points deducted.
  • Voucher Codes: Some avatar parts are given to you automatically when certain voucher codes are redeemed. There is no message to indicate whether and what parts you may have received. Their names have the (Voucher) suffix.
  • Buying Donations: Some avatar parts are given to you automatically after purchasing a donation card from the donation store. Trading away the cards does not transfer the avatar parts. Their names have the (Donation) suffix.
  • Other Methods: Avatar parts can also be given as a prize for an official contest/tournament. This isn't likely to happen too often however.

Updating Your Avatar

From the Avatars page, follow the Change link for the layer type that you want to change. You will be shown a list of all avatar parts for that layer that you've obtained so far, along with their names, prices, and who the artist was. To select a part for the layer, follow the Wear This! link. You should be taken to a confirmation screen - from there follow the Return to avatar page link.

Repeat the process with all layers you want to change, and then once you're satisfied, follow the Rebuild Avatar File! link. This will actually update the avatar. You may need to return to the previous page or refresh in order to view the changes.

Due to issues with Java's caching, your avatar may not immediately update in the matchmaker or the game client. It will update after a seemingly random interval, and for different players at different times. You are also able to force the update on your own computer by restarting the browser, if you really want to see your avatar in action. If you really need to show your avatar off to someone, refer them to your Profile page.
