0Phew, finally got this up.

Sorry for the delays, those of you following on the forums, but finally it's here! And we've got a lot to go over, so listen up.

Firstly, we've finally got rid of our tournament card backlog (that's both participation awards and actual trophies, for those paying attention)! There's no art, sadly, but they're out (or at least they're being handed out as we speak, since there's a lot of them). Go forth and be merry, or just look at the next post for more details.

Secondly, we've got a balance update for you all, down at the bottom of the post.

Thirdly, and most importantly, effective immediately no more work will be done on 1.0 that isn't also 2.0 work. What does this mean? Well, I've got a longer post over here (which also goes into more detail about what 2.0 is, for those interested), but the short version is no more new cards of any sort (we may break this one rarely, but don't expect much, sorry), no more balance council (go here if you'd like to give your input on how balance should be handled for the rest of 1.0), no more major tournaments (though player run ones are still fine, though any participation awards handed out, if any, will be reprints), and no more events. NGC is still going to happen at some point, because that's an important part of 2.0, but outside of that and csc changes (bug fixes and balance updates), we won't be working on 1.0 anymore. This isn't a decision we made lightly, but it was ultimately what we determined would be for the best.

Now we're not taking the game down or anything, just we won't be adding content. So do feel free to keep playing as much as you like. Besides, we just released some cards for you to muck around with, so you've gotta stick around for those, right? Speaking of, if anyone wants to open their trophies up for crafting, let us know and we'll do that at the very least.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of you did want to leave until 2.0 comes out. If you're one of those people, or even just one of the people who drops by just every now and then, drop masa or me a PM with your e-mail to be notified when 2.0 is ready. Be sure to specify whether you want to be notified of any 2.0 betas, or if you just want to be notified when 2.0 is officially live and not just in beta.

And that's it folks. We're not going anywhere, and hopefully we'll get NGC (and 2.0) out to you sooner rather than later, but there's still a lot of work left to be done on both. See you on the forums!



Balance Changes
NPC (Prime): Cost increased to Gmana2 cost (+Gmana1), Sac value decreased to 0 (-Gmana1), stats increased to 0/30 (+0/+20)
Magic Eight Squall: Ability changed to give own monsters +X/+Y and opponent's monsters -X/-Y where X and Y are random between -10 and 20 (changed From -20 to 20 to target monster)
Save Point: Ability cost decreased to Lmana3 (-Lmana1)
Remembrance: Cost increased to Lmana2 (+Lmana1), failure cost removed (discard a card as part of resolution, not a cost).
NPC (Clash), all: Cost increased to Gmana2 cost (+Gmana1), Sac value stays the same (Gmana1), stats increased to 0/20 (+0/+10)
Slime Traveller: Cost increased to Gmana3 (+Gmana1), ability cost increase to Gmana3 (+Gmana2), stats increased to 30/30 (+20/+10)
NPC (War): Cost increased to Gmana2 cost (+Gmana1), Sac value stays Zero, stats increased to 0/30 (+0/+8)
Bouquet: Cost increased to Dmana2Lmana2Gmana2 (+Dmana1Lmana1Gmana1), given a maintenance of 20 health
Replibot Hive: Ability cost increased to Dmana1Gmana1 (+Dmana1Gmana1)
Replibot: Cost increased to Dmana1Gmana1 (+Dmana1Gmana1), stats increased to 20/20 (+10/+10), ability changed to spike all owner's replibots (from dizzying all replibots regardless of owner), Failure cost changed to only destroy self (from destroying all owner's replibots).
Elemental Transmogrification: Name change to Elemental Transmogrification (from Elemental Aura), card type changed to spell (from monster), ability changed to "Obliterate target monster you control , then gain a random fire, wind, water, or earth elemental with 15+5X attack/life, where X is the target's casting cost" (from something even more complex and bad)
Surrounding fog: Removed from game and replaced with Fog Elemental
Fog elemental: Replaced Surrounding Fog as a card, colour change to Light-Grey (from tricolour), cost increased to Lmana3Gmana5 (-Dmana1 +Lmana2Gmana3), sac increased to Lmana2Gmana6 (+Lmana2Gmana6), stats increased to 45/45 (+30/+0)
Roast Chestnut: Ability changed to target a player, dealing 18 damage to that player then they draw a card (from being untargeted and affecting only owner), speed decreased to Speed_3 (from Speed_0)
Verdant Kodama: Dark location ability changed to always destroy damaged monsters (up from 50%)
Knightmare: Stats increased to 55/45 (+0/+5)

0Were you refreshing all day waiting for Shigatsu cards? Hah, joke's on you! There are no Shigatsu cards!

There are, however, April 2nd cards. Which just happen to have flavour placing them in Shigatsuverse. This is completely coincidental, however, as they are not Shigatsu cards.

Now, the puzzle for these cards is very, very complex, so pay attention.

Step 1: Log in to CMC.
Step 2: Go to the Crafting page.
Step 3: Use any of the recipes below.
Step 4: Repeat step 3 as necessary.

Be careful not to mess it up, or you might just catch on fire.*

*Disclaimer: unless you're a magmite.**

**If you are a Magmite, you may want to check this thread on the forums, specifically 1+1 posts down.

0The Fall 2012 tournament is beginning today! Everyone that has signed up should be receiving PMs shortly informing them of who they are matched up against. Results can be posted in the results thread and everyone's progress can be tracked on the brackets. Good luck!



We're also approaching the end of the DOJFU event - we've just got the finishing touches to finalize. As such, we're also releasing the card now, in time for use in the Fall tournament. People that helped out during the Beta last year have also been given some free copies, and anyone will be able to craft additional copies with either of the below recipes:

Flesh Render + Melrak Channeler + Bloodlust
Skeletal Chimera + Melrak Chantress + Bloodlust

And those will give you a card resembling this:

As a bonus, we're also letting you decide on flavour text for Frenzied Masses. If you have any suggestions, send them over this way.

0Having recently discovered that the rest of the world hasn't switched to the Chinese calendar, and celebrated the beginning of 2013 about a month ago, I decided it's about time that we started the Fall 2012 tournament! The rules are pretty simple, and it's free for anyone to join. Just follow the link and post to say you're signing up, before February 17th.

What do you mean, we're just being lazy? We've created a new card for everyone that participates! And doing things is, like, the opposite of being lazy:

Also, just a note that you've only got a couple of days left to claim your free cards from the gift event is now over.

Boiler Rupture: Card fixed to deal damage to the monster opposite the destroyed effect.

Parade Robot: Stats increased to 80/75 (+3/+1). Sac value increased to Dmana9 (+Dmana5).
Chroniton Gun: Cost increased to Dmana4Gmana5 (+Dmana1Gmana1).
Ninja Baker: Color changed to Grey from Dark-Light. Cost changed to Gmana7 (-Dmana4Lmana4: +gmana:7). Sac value increased to Gmana7 sac (+Gmana5). Card fixed to be able to create a free Melonpan when its owner has no effects in play.

Elven Cloak: Ability changed to give attached monster +15 temporary life at the start and end of turn if it doesn't have Lifebar, instead of giving it +20 temporary life at the start of turn regardless of whether it has Lifebar.
Kappachino: Speed increased to Speed_2 (from Speed_5).
World of Witchcraft: Cost decreased to Dmana1 (-Dmana1).
Lambda Kappa: Cost decreased to Dmana7 (-Dmana1). Sac value left unchanged. Stats decreased to 70/80 (-5/-5).
Gunpowder Stockpile: Stats changed to 20/90 (+3/-6). Gained "If burned: [AbilitypointerAbilitydizzy: Opponent's monsters take 20 damage, then destroy Gunpowder Stockpile]" Speed_5 speed activated ability. Lost "Damages a monster: If either monster is burned, destroy this, and all enemy monsters take 17 damage".
Chora's Wrath: Stats decreased to 95/95 (-21/-21). Gained Boss. Lost Ability Shield.
Storm Elemental: Gained "Does not dizzy after attacking". Lost "Damages a monster: Undizzy Storm Elemental".
Dragontamer Feywarden: Stats decreased to 20/60 (-10/-0). Ability changed to have +30 attack on defense, instead of +10 attack on defense.
Temporary Agency: Cost increased to Gmana1 (+Gmana1). Speed decreased to Speed_5 (from Speed_0).

Well, no matter. Crack one open! Then play more games and crack another open! Do that enough times, and you'll be able to open them all! You've only got until the end of January to do it. Yeah, January! The tree collection's gonna be late this year.

Also, just a reminder for those who may have missed it, we also have a great experiment going on in the dev forum where we experiment with monster life ratios and see if we can't make them more fun. That's going on here if you want to check it out!

  Two new community projects

0Remember that whole NGC beta thing we had awhile back? Well, it's over now (surprise!), and in the meantime we have two new things to focus on.

Firstly, we've got the first stage of the prize waiting for people over here. That's right, it's another DOJFU (Do Our Jobs For Us)! Only this time, it's started out partially complete: we're making a dark, CMCverse monster (though there is an option for non-monster for those of you who wish to defy the will of fate). The results of the DOJFU will be the prize to be handed out to players based on their house points from the NGC beta event. This first part will last a week, so people have time to notice we're doing it.

Secondly, we're going to be using Ultros's beta server for a new, even more nefarious purpose! We're going to see what happens when we increase monster life by 50% of the monster's total stat points! Yeah, this is a pretty ambitious project, which is why we'd like it tested rather extensively to find out if it works well or not. You can find the details here in masa's overview of the project.

So go nuts and have fun with these two projects! As for those waiting for Fall... there will be a Fall this year (hopefully soon), we're just not quite ready for it.
